CAN'T WAIT!
Comme un appétissant gâteau qu'il est interdit de toucher, une formule 1 bridée à 90 kilomètres heure ou une princesse dans l'impossibilité d'embrasser la grenouille par on ne sait quel sortilège, nous regardions les portes du Musée qui restaient désespérément closes.
Cet état de frustration intense faisait monter, année après année, un tel désir que la seule et unique phrase possible à déclarer était : Can't Wait!
C'est avec un appétit optimiste que Massinon a, pour la première fois, dans le Mudam Almanach 2000-2004, fait dire à ses personnages cette ultime supplication : Can't Wait!
Lorsqu'enfin, fin 2005, la perspective d'ouverture du Musée vit le jour, Can't Wait! se révèla être le cri de ralliement de tous ceux pour qui la patience avait atteint les limites du supportable.
Massinon et toute l'équipe du Mudam décidèrent de faire de cette courte phrase le symbole et l'axe principal de la campagne d'ouverture du Musée.

Le Can't Wait! Project est né.

CAN'T WAIT!
Like an appetising cake that you are forbidden to touch, a Formula 1 car limited to 90 kilometres an hour, or a princess unable to kiss her frog because of some magic spell, we would look at the museum doors which stayed hopelessly closed.
This state of intense frustration gave rise, year after year, to such a longing that the one and only possible phrase to describe it was: Can't Wait!
It was with an optimistic appetite that Massinon, for the first time, in the Mudam Almanach 2000-2004, made these characters utter the ultimate supplication: Can't Wait!
When finally, at the end of the year 2005, the prospect of the Museum opening saw the light, Can't Wait! proved to be the rallying cry for everybody whose patience had reached its absolut limit.
Massinon and all the Mudam team decided to make this short phrase the symbol and key main line of the Museum's opening campaign.

The Can't Wait! Project was born.

Mudam Eldorado first catalogue

IMCA AWARDS
GOLD FOR MUDAM
Le Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, Mudam Luxembourg, s’est vu attribuer un « Golden Award » aux prestigieux International Museum Communication Awards (IMCA). Lors de la remise des prix, le 29 novembre 2007 à Bruxelles, Mudam a reçu la plus haute distinction dans la catégorie « Corporate Design » pour sa campagne de communication « Can’t Wait ! ». Cette dernière a été réalisée pour l’ouverture du musée en juillet 2006 par l’équipe Mudam en collaboration avec les graphistes Ott+Stein, Oliver Peters et l’artiste Jean-Christophe Massinon.

The Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, Mudam Luxembourg, has had the honor to receive a “Golden Award” at the International MuseumCommunication Awards (IMCA). Mudam received this highest distinction in Brussels, on November 29th, 2007, in the “Corporate Design”- category for its “Can’t Wait!” communication campaign. This campaign was realized for the opening of the museum in July 2006 by the Mudam team, in collaboration with the graphic designers Ott+Stein, Oliver Peters and the artist Jean-Christophe Massinon.

Commentary reported by the President of the Grand Jury Damien Whitmore, Director of Programming, Victoria & Albert Museum, London:
“The Jury felt that this is a sensational campaign (Can’t wait). It is imme-
diately arresting with fantastic use of type and images. It transforms the
traditional nature of a campaign and turns it into something exotic and
interesting. Beautifully produced, strong, punchy and fabulous.”
