Graphique Deluxe. Mudam 2005
Dedicated to graphic design, Graphique Deluxe assembles at the same time a selection of the graphic projects that Mudam has realized since the beginning of its activities as well as new creations commissioned for the exhibition. Such is the case with the monumental window as imagined by Paul Kirps for the front of the Banque de Luxembourg in Kirchberg, or also of the installation of the logo and the alphabet created by Ott+Stein and Oliver Peters.

For Graphique Deluxe, Mudam demanded of the graphic designers, illustrators or the artists with whom it has formed bonds over the years, to design a set of playing cards. Working in Luxembourg, in France, in Belgium or in Germany, these artists all delivered a complete deck of cards imagined within the line of the work which characterizes them: Claude Closky, gambler artist; Laurent Daubach, trash aesthetics; Donuts, "Belgian chocolatiers"; Laurent Fétis, refined style; Marianne Grisse, sober and elegant; Michel Mallard, figure of the trendy press impossible to ignore; Jean-Christophe Massinon and his universal silhouettes; Ott+Stein, rigour and precision; Oliver Peters, eclectic graphics; Vidale&Gloesener, efficiency and originality; and Paul Kirps, prolific illustrator. For his illustration on the bank’s windows, the latter drew upon the imagery of popular culture, deploying directly upon the windows a bountiful universe of cinematographic reminiscences, kitsch and neo-romantics.

Among the objects on display, one finds the publications of Mudam of which some were award winning, as well as a booklet realized in collaboration with Nico magazine. The decks of cards are available in the showroom via a vending machine. Some of these cards were drawn in a larger format and are the subject of a playful display.

GRAPHIQUE DELUXE
Consacrée au design graphique, Graphique Deluxe réunit à la fois une sélection des projets graphiques que Mudam a réalisés depuis le début de ses activités ainsi que de nouvelles créations commandées pour l’exposition.

C’est le cas de la monumentale vitrine imaginée par Paul Kirps pour la façade de la Banque de Luxembourg au Kirchberg, ou encore de la mise en espace du logo et de l’alphabet créés par Ott+Stein et Oliver Peters.

Pour Graphique Deluxe, Mudam a demandé à des graphistes, illustrateurs ou artistes avec lesquels la Fondation tisse des liens depuis quelques années de concevoir des cartes à jouer. Travaillant au Luxembourg, en France, en Belgique ou en Allemagne, ces artistes ont tous livré un jeu complet de cartes à jouer pensé dans la ligne du travail qui les caractérise: Claude Closky, artiste joueur; Laurent Daubach, esthétique trash; Donuts, «chocolatiers belges»; Laurent Fétis, style épuré; Marianne Grisse, sobre et élégante; Michel Mallard, figure incontournable de la presse tendance; Jean-Christophe Massinon et ses silhouettes universelles; Ott+Stein, rigueur et précision; Oliver Peters, graphiste éclectique; Vidale&Gloesener, efficacité et originalité; et Paul Kirps, illustrateur prolifique. Pour son illustration sur les vitrines de la Banque, ce dernier a puisé dans l’imagerie de la culture populaire, déployant sur les baies vitrées un univers foisonnant de réminiscences cinématographiques, kitsch et néo-romantiques.

Parmi les objets exposés, on retrouve les publications de Mudam dont certaines ont été primées, ainsi qu’un tiré à part «Graphique Deluxe» réalisé en collaboration avec le magazine Nico. Les jeux de cartes sont disponibles dans la salle d’exposition via un distributeur automatique. Certaines de ces cartes ont été tirées en grand format et font l’objet d’un accrochage ludique.
